My Baby Graduated

Today my baby graduated from Kindergarten. My baby has learned how to read, how to tell time, and how to count money. My baby has learned how to memorize bible verses, follow directions and respect other people. My baby is growing up and I am at the point that I think she may not be a baby anymore.

Ear Infections

Does this look like the cheesy grin of a baby that is sick???
(The cheesy grin is a new thing he does for me when I have the camera.)
My poor, poor baby Reed.
After his teeth came in, he seemed to be getting worse not better. He couldn't sleep at night, he wanted to be cuddled all the time and he was drooling like crazy.
And finally, after the third night of no sleep, I called the doctor.
And the doctor said my poor baby had a double ear infection, but one had just ruptured and the other one looked like it was about to repture.
My poor, poor baby.
My poor, poor baby.
It is not easier the second time around...I miss everything.
My poor, poor baby.

First and Second Tooth

This is the face of a baby that is so happy his little teeth finally made an appearance.
Reed got his first tooth the day after he turned 8 months, and then the very next day he decided to get his second tooth.
I have no pictures of them, since new teeth are hard to capture and every time I try to check them out, Reed decides to chomp down. He's been a little trooper through the whole ordeal, especially considering he was fighting his very first illness at the same time.
I bought Reed this little hat awhile ago, and it was the best purchase ever.
It is my favorite thing in his closet!! That being said, he's been wearing it a lot lately. Every time we go out, we're stopped by ladies telling him how adorable he is. He's even started to smile at some of them.
It's a silly little hat, but he has the perfect color eyes, shape of face and even personality for it.
Sometimes you splurge on little things that are worth it. And this little Gymboree hat was worth it.

8 Months

This has been a month of discovery for Reed.

He has discovered how to clap. He has discovered how to wave bye. He has discovered how to stand on his own. He has discovered that it's much easier to fall on his cute little tush, rather than his sweet little face. He has discovered that if it's close enough, he can take the 3 to 4 steps to get to it. He has discovered that if you let your sister play with you too much when she has a cold, that she'll share that cold with you. He has discovered that when you are sick, it's perfectly acceptable to wake up every 3 hours...all night long, because Mom will be right in to make it all better.

I'm hoping next month things slow down a bit!

Round and Round

You know you've met your best friend when he's willing to push you around and around, for no other reason than just to make you happy!

The Humane Society

I went with Sawyer to The Humane Society today. She had a lot of fun checking out all of the animals, and lucky for me she didn't ask to bring any of them home. She did a great job sitting through her 3 presentation about how to act towards strange dogs...since she heard about it first at Safety Town, then Riviera and this time she actually got to go to the Humane Society to listen to it. I'm not complaining, the safer she is around animals, the better. She really would love to have a pet and I promised her we could talk about it once I stopped having to change Reed's diapers. (I'm hoping by then she'll forget!!)

Learning to Walk

This is all Reed wants to do anymore!
He just wants to walk back and forth to us, to the couch, to the laundry basket.
I have no idea how to stop him from doing this!

Mother's Day at the Coast

We spent Mother's Day at the coast again this year. The weather was nice, not too windy and not too cold. Perfect for the little bit of time we actually spent outside. Before we made it to the coast, we had to stop by and let Sawyer take a ride on one of the ponies. Oh how I wish I was Sawyer. That child gets everything!
Then we were off to a lunch of crab cakes and fish tacos. Yummy! Sawyer and I got a little coloring in before lunch came.
This was Reed's first adventure out into the Pacific Ocean.
He really loved looking around and watching the waves. When it came time to dip his little tooties into the cold water...he wasn't so sure. He didn't laugh, he didn't cry...he just made that kind of half giggle...where he was trying to appease his mother but he was done with the water.
We enjoyed our little day out.

After Scott had been gone for SWAT week and then he worked overtime all day on Saturday, we were ready for a little Daddy Time. So glad it turned out as well as it did.

And Finally .... a Fridge

Today I FINALLY got my fridge for the new house. We have been in here for 2 and 1/2 months and during all that time I have been using our little mini fridge for my everyday stuff. I've had to use Scott's old kegorator for all the other stuff. The biggest downfall to this is that I was going up and down stairs all the time and the kegorator likes to freeze veggies....so no salads for 10 weeks...because frozen romaine doesn't taste so good. It is an Electrolux french door, counter depth, wave touch...blah blah blah...beautiful fridge. It has multiple climate controls, it has three shelves in my freezer drawer...Basically it was worth the wait!

We also got our new tv's. We've been living with one very small tv, in a hole that is obviously made for the 60" one we finally got. And then poor Scott couldn't live without a 73" one in his man cave...also known as our bonus room. This tv is like being in a movie theater...it's pretty neat.

It's starting to feel like we actually live here!

Pulling Himself Up

I set down Reed in front of his toy baskets, with a few toys picked out, so I can go put some clothes away in his closet. I swear he's sitting down, I look away for 10 seconds and when I look back, he's pulled himself up and is going thru his toys.
What!?!?
I'm going to have to have Uncle Eddie come over and start securing everything to the walls!!!

The best part is that Reed was just so ...whatever... about the whole thing. He knew he wanted to go check something else out and so he did it. I did get him to finally look at me and give me half smile. This little boy is just too funny.

Oh Boy!

Baby Reed has now decided that he doesn't want to just sit and watch the world pass him by.
He is ready for some adventure. First, I can't leave him with anything. The other morning he figured out how to take the paper out of the plastic sleave and start "reading" it.

He's also decided to pull himself up on anything and everything. He spends a lot of time in my office, and he's such a quite and good boy, but sometimes I turn around for a minute to type something or answer a phone call, and I turn back around to see him getting into trouble.
Reed's latest trick is to stand by himself.
He has to hold on to something, and again, in the office, the loveseat is the perfect height for him to hold onto and feel brave. I'm trying to keep him immobile for as long as I can, but he just doesn't want to go with my program.

Awesome 3000

Sawyer did a great job today while running in the Awesome 3000. This year Sawyer moved up from the 300 meter run, to the mile run. It was quite the jump in distance, but Sawyer made it. She ran the first 100 meters on the track and then they went cross country thru the baseball field. We weren't able to see her during most of her run (I now understand a little bit of what my family went through all those years of my cross country running) but it was fun the little bit we did get to see. She came in about 30th out of all the kindergarten girls, and I would guess there had to be at least 100 little girls in her race. Her time was 10 minutes and 58 seconds. Not too bad for a 6 year old.
She told us afterwards that she fell down during her run...she had the grass stained knees to prove it. When she was explaining what happened, she said that all these race helpers were trying to come up to her and she just jumped up and kept saying, "I'm alright. I'm alright." I can just imagine the child wishing those people would stop drawing attention to the fact that she fell. She also told us that she stopped at the water table to take a drink. She then said she nicely threw her cup away and could not believe how many other kids had littered by just throwing their cups on the ground.
Sawyer did a great job, and had a lot of fun. I may have a runner on my hands after all!

Wings of Wonder

Sawyer went on a field trip to the Wings of Wonder in Independence. It is a little place, way off the beaten path, where they grow butterflies.

It's every little girls dream. A world full of beautiful, happy, flying butterlies.

The owners talked to the kids about the life cycle of a butterfly and then we went into the "nursery" where the new butterflies are born.

The best part, though, was when we walked into the big enclosure containing the butterflies. They were beautiful and wherever you looked, you could see them flying thru the air, landing on the ground, in the trees. It was so much fun to walk around and just be surrounded by butterflies.Sawyer was patient enough and still enough to have a butterfly walk onto her hand. It didn't stay for long. But it was fun to be able to hold a real live butterfly.
